5 <br />i( <br />SAFE COMMUNITY HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM <br />QUARTERLY REPORT <br />PROJECT TITLE: HPD TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION PROGRAM/PT08-Ol (02-H-O1) <br />Accomplishing our mission goal will be based on the reduction of total fatalities within <br />The County Of Hawaii by FFY 2008. HPD will also determine effectiveness by the <br />number of classes held and officer's attendance, and completion rate during the yeaz. <br />STRATEGIES <br />1. Through additional training, all members of HPD's Traffic Enforcement Unit will <br />have completed basic or advanced Crash Reconstruction Classes. <br />2. Three Radaz/Laser Instructors will be recertified and ready to conduct training. <br />3. Visual Statement diagamming programs will be purchased and installed in TEU's <br />computers. <br />4. Conduct one Intoxilyzer Supervisor training session. <br />GRANT PERIOD RESULTS: <br />(FOURTH OUARTER/FINAL REPORT) <br />1. During this grant period, HPD's Traffic Enforcement Units (TEU) have not <br />completed the basic and advanced Crash Reconstruction Classes. Classes <br />have not been offered. <br />None of these classes were offered during the FFY 2008. <br />2. Officer Fojas conducted radar and laser certification for HPD's 74`h Recruit class <br />during the 4a' quarter. Seven recruits trained. <br />Three of our officers attended the Speed Measurement Lab Inc: Radar/Laser <br />Instructors Course on Kauai in October 2007. One officer attended the <br />Intoxilyzer 8000 Training and Maintenance Course on Kauai in January 2008. <br />Sgt. Gali and Officer Fojas conducted Radar and Laser certification for IIPD's <br />72°a and 73`a Recruit classes. Total of 33 officers trained which include the <br />seven recruits from the 74th Recruit class. <br />3. Purchased and received the Visual Statement diagramming program for use by our <br />department's Traffic Enforcement Units (TEU). <br />4. HPD's TEU officers conducted an Intoxilyzer operator and supervisor Training <br />for the 74`h recruit class during the fourth quarter. The seven officers were certified <br />in both the Intoxilyzer 5000 and 8000 as both operators and supervisors. <br />Total of 7 officers were certified in the Intoxilyzer 5000 and 8000 as operators <br />and supervisors during FFY 2008. <br />
