CURRENT TITLE PAY GRADE COMMENTS: This request is to establish a new full time Water Safety Officer II (WSO II) position in the Kona District utilizing currently available funding from two (2) part time WSO II positions allocated for the same district. The basis and justification for this request includes: 1. Presently there are two (2) funded part time WSO 11 position vacancies at the respective beach/unit. No additional funding would be necessary to establish a new full time position. 2. There are qualified and interested employees to fill the proposed new position. 3. As demonstrated through a continuous recruitment process, it is difficult to recruit qualified and desirable candidates for some of the WSO 11 vacancies and a full time position provides additional employment incentive for prospective candidates. 4. The establishment of an additional full time position will facilitate better scheduling and beach coverage. 5.
