No. 819-08 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 819-08, reports as follows: Resolution No. 819-08, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 395 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 1573, dated November 5, 2008, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division for a Law Enforcement Investigations Standby Pay grant for the Hawaii County Police Department. The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division is awarding $46,904 towards another Law Enforcement Investigations Standby Pay Grant for the Hawaii County Police Department. The grant's goal is to improve the department's ability to respond to violent crimes against women. The grant Funds will be used to compensate the Juvenile Aid Section Detectives who are on standby status, ensuring prompt responses to the victim(s) and the crime scene. Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
