Memo to Chair JYoshimoto <br />And Council Members <br />December 30, 2008 <br />Page Two <br />Riki Hokama (NACO Representative) made his report about the upcoming conference and <br />stated that we should push for more "transportation funds". NACO will keep the dues the same <br />and will push to go more "green". They will be also changing the way they do their selections <br />of chairs. The "WRI" is asking if Hawaii wants to host next yeaz's conference and which <br />island would be the host. Riki mentioned that it takes a lot of money and energy and everyone <br />would need to help. He also mentioned that the membership will need to attend because in the <br />past there was a low turnout. <br />Meeting minutes from November 24, 2008 were approved and are attached here for your <br />review. The treasurer's report for November 2008 was filed. <br />We will need to approve the newly proposed officers for 2009 as follows: <br />President Nester Garcia-Oahu <br />Vice-President Derek Kawakami-Kauai <br />Secretary Dennis Onishi-Hawaii <br />Treasurer Joe Pontanilla-Maui <br />Once we decide on this matter, I will then give the board Hawaii's decision. <br />Councilman Kelly Greenwell spoke about how the "sunshine law" needs to be changed. He <br />also mentioned about how we all need to go and get the money from the "farm bill" and <br />someone mentioned about talking to Rep. Neil Abercrombie and Sen.
