NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Kauai County Council's Representative to the HSAC Executive Committee <br />President Rapozo stated that the Kauai Council had approved <br />Councilmember Kouchi as the HSAC representative and Councilmember <br />Kaneshiro as the alternate, but since Councilmember Kouchi will be <br />leaving the council in December, Councilmember Kaneshiro will act as the <br />HSAC representative. President Rapozo indicated that Councilmember- <br />elect Derek Kawakami and Councilmember Kaneshiro have expressed an <br />interest in serving as the HSAC representative and alternate, respectively. <br />President Rapozo stated that the Executive Committee may wish to <br />consider the leadership of HSAC at its next meeting. <br />The Kauai HSAC representative was approved. <br />VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. Schedule of Upcoming HSAC Meetings. <br />The next meeting will be held December 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at <br />Honolulu Hale, with December 22, 2008, as the alternate date: President <br />Rapozo stated that Councilmember Darryl Kaneshiro will act as President <br />at that meeting. <br />B. Other Announcements <br />Treasurer Pontanilla indicated that for the past two years only one <br />person has responded to bids to undertake the HSAC audit. To <br />avoid late tax filings, Treasurer Pontanilla intends to arrange for a <br />one-year HSAC audit contract with the option to cancel the contract <br />or extend it for another year. <br />2. Kauai Councilmember Iseri-Carvalho requested that the committee <br />provide a certificate of condolence for NACo boardmember Bruce <br />Elwell, who recently passed away. Services were held on <br />November 22. Kauai staff Ayonon and Honolulu staff Segami agreed <br />to prepare a certificate for the members' signatures. <br />
