BParongRPZ.doc - I I/21/08 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />BACKGROUND REPORT <br />MELODY PA120NG <br />CHANGE OF ZONE APPLICATION fREZ OS-000084) <br />MELODY PARONG has submitted an application for a Change of Zone from Single- <br />Family Residentia120,000 square feet (RS-20) to Single-Family Residential 15,000 squaze feet <br />(R5-15) for approximately 35,850 squaze feet of land. The property is located approximately <br />200 feet east of Highway 11 (Volcano Road) in the vicinity of the Highway 11- Kuaaina Road <br />intersection, Keaau, Puna, Hawaii, TMK: 1-7-016:028. <br />PROPOSED ACTION <br />1. Request: Change of Zone from Single-Family Residentia120,000 square feet (RS-20) to <br />Single-Family Residential 15,000 square feet (RS-15). The request, if approved, would <br />allow the subdivision of the property into two lots, one lot approximately 18,770 square <br />feet in size (Lot 12-A), and the other (Lot 12-B) approximately 17,080 square feet in size. <br />The property is co-owned by the applicant, her husband, and the applicant's pazents. As <br />part of estate planning, the applicant requests-the rezoning to subdivide the property <br />should there be any issues as to ownership after the parents' passing. The applicant <br />proposes to convert the two existing dwellings on proposed Lot 12-A into a single family <br />dwelling unit by connecting the two structures and removing the kitchen in one of the <br />two dwellings.
