Kenoi, dated December 16, 2008, recommends <br />the appointment of Warren H.W. Lee as the County of Hawaii Director of Public Works, for a <br />co-terminus term with his tenure ending December 3, 2012. <br />Mr. Lee was President of Hawaii Electric Light Company from July 1991 to March 2008, and <br />served in various engineering and management positions with Hawaiian Electric Company from <br />1972 to 1990. He is Vice-Chair of the Hawaii Island United Way 2008 Campaign, and <br />Co-Chair of the Hawaii Island United Way 2008 Mayor's Cup. Also attached to <br />Communication 48 is Mr. Lee's resume. <br />Mr. Lee answered questions from this committee in relation to complaints of preferential <br />treatment in issuance of building permits, delays in plumbing and electrical permits, flooding <br />issues facing the County of Hawaii; and solutions to address cost over runs in projects cited in a <br />recent audit by the Legislative Auditor of the Department of Public Works. <br />PWIRC RPT NO. 6 <br />
