<br /><< <br /> <br />"','" <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hawai'i Fin Swimming Events Council will provide leadership to develop <br />partnerships to enhance grassroots development in designated Olympic sports, providing a bridge <br />between beginner and elite athlete levels, which will clear a path for Olympic development for <br />Hawai'i's youth to participate in a water sport regardless of gender, race, age, geography, or <br />physical ability. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br />HA WAIl that it officially recognizes fin swimming as an international sport, that it recognizes the <br />Hawai'i Fin Swimming Events Council, and that it proudly supports its plans to host training <br />camps, coaching and judging conferences, youth exchange programs, and international competitions <br />for fin swimming. ' <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawai'i transmit copies of <br />this Resolution to Benjamin Cayetano, Governor of the State of Hawai'i; Hawai'i State Senators: <br />Malama Solomon, Andy Levin, and Wayne Metcalf; Hawai'i State Representatives: David Tamas, <br />Eric Hamakawa, Jerry Chang, Dwight Takamine, Robert Herkes, and Paul Whalen; Stephen K. <br />Yamashiro, Mayor of Hawai' i County; George Yoshida, Director of Parks and Recreation; Julie <br />Tulang, Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation; Diane Quitiquit, Director of Research and <br />Development. <br /> <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawai'i transmit copies of <br />this Resolution to Mr. Jean-Claude Schupp, Executive Director of the General Association of <br />International Sports Federations; Mr. Willy Pijpers; Bureau Executive of the World Underwater <br />Federation; Mr. Michael Gower, President of the Underwater Society of America, National <br />Governing Body-Underwater Swimming United States of America; Mr. Mario Vazquez-Rana, <br />President of the Association of National Olympic Committees; and Mr. William J.
