No. 126 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:45 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 126, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 126, transmitted by Executive on Aging William Takaba, via Communication <br /> No. 388, dated June 27, 1997, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into agreements with the <br /> Executive Office of Aging, Officer of the Governor and the State of Hawaii to provide for the <br /> Area Plan on Aging. <br /> The Executive Office on Aging, pursuant to Chapter 349, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is mandated <br /> the responsibility of developing and implementing various programs for elderly persons <br /> <br /> throughout the State. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Title [II of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, 42 U.S.C., Section 3001, <br /> et sea., section 30581, the State developed a State Plan on Aging for the 1995-99 fiscal period. <br /> Under the Act, the designated azea agencies are responsible for an approved plan or a <br /> comprehensive and coordinated system of services to the elderly. The Hawaii County Office of <br /> Aging has developed such a plan. <br /> The State of Hawaii has appropriated federal funds for the fruition of the above-mentioned <br /> programs, and wishes to distribute funds to the County of Hawaii, by and through the Office of <br /> Aging, through Contract No. HA-98/99-2(A), Agreement for Grants and Purchases of Service, in <br /> the amount of $1,364,112. and Contract No. HA-98-1(N), Agreement for Older American Act <br /> Funds, in the amount of $701,761. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, as amended, the Governor of the State of <br /> Hawaii may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing for the <br /> co-sponsorship and joint development and maintenance of programs and projects which have <br /> been authorized by the legislature. <br /> The Council Chair is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the name of the Council of the <br /> County of Hawaii Contract Numbers HA-98/99-2(A) and HA-98-1 (N). <br /> FC REPORT NO. 110 <br /> <br />
