No. 86 <br />PLACE: Councilroom <br />Ben Franklin Bdg., 2"d Floor <br />333 Kilauea Avenue <br />Hilo, Hawaii <br />TIME: 10:03 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred <br />Communication 86, reports as follows: <br />Communication 86 from Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated January 6, 2009, requests the Council's <br />approval of the re-appointment of Mr. Benjamin Watai, Sr. for a consecutive term on the Hawaii <br />County Transportation Commission. <br />Mr. Watai had been previously appointed to serve the remainder of a two-year term, which <br />ended December 31, 2008; and according to County Charter Section 13-4(c), he can be <br />re-appointed to the same position for an additional consecutive term to expire on <br />December 31, 2013. <br />Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation unanimously spoke highly of <br />Mr. Watai's past service and had no issues or questions for him during his appearance before the <br />Committee.
