COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. ~~. ~'S9 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OR HIS DULY AUTHORIZED <br />REPRESENTATIVE TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE <br />DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, FOR FUNDING UNDER <br />THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 (ARRA) FOR <br />PROGRAMS UNDER TITLE 1 OF THE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT <br />WHEREAS, funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment <br />Act of 2009 (ARRA), are being passed through the State of <br />Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) to <br />the Hawaii County; and <br />WHEREAS, these monies must be used for programs under Title <br />1 of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA); and <br />WHEREAS, these programs include Youth, Adult and Dislocated <br />Worker Programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the County drafted the required WIA-ARRA Annual <br />Plan which was approved by the Workforce Investment Board's <br />Executive Committee and submitted to the DLIR by the March 24, <br />2009 deadline; and <br />WHEREAS, the DLIR must obligate the WIA-ARRA funds to the <br />County by April 15, 2009 in compliance with deadlines <br />established in the ARRA. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY <br />OF HAWAII, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is <br />authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, agreements and <br />related documents with the State of Hawaii Department of Labor <br />and Industrial Relations, to enable the County to receive and <br />provide funding for youth, adult and dislocated worker training <br />and employment programs in accordance with the WIA-ARRA Annual <br />Plan. <br />
