No. 50 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:47 A.M. <br /> Chairman and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 17, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Resolution No. 17, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 12, via Communication No. 50 from <br /> Finance Director Hany Takahashi, dated December 18, 1996, authorizes the County of <br /> Hawaii to enter into an agreement with the United States of America for a Violence <br /> Against Children grant. <br /> The United States of America, through the State Department of the Attorney General, <br /> and the Hawaii County Police Department, is desirous of providing funding for expenses <br /> to conduct initial and refresher training in the areas of extrafamilial and intrafamilial <br /> sexual and physical abuse of children. This grant will enable the availability of <br /> investigators to respond to child physical and sexual abuse calls, and to improve the <br /> investigative support system by implementing technical and procedural changes within <br /> the department. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Federal Government may <br /> enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing the <br /> expenditure or receipt of funds or for other assistance.
