COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII xESOLVTioN No. 104 09 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A MULTI- YEAR LEASE EXTENSION AGREEMENT WITH GRACE BASQUE FOR THE KONA ELDERLY ACTIVITIES OFFICE WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease, or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year and more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation's Kona Elderly Activities Office presently occupies 4,000 square feet of office space located at 85-951 Haleki`i Street, Kealakekua, Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the current lease, that ends on June 30, 2009, has an option to renew the term of the lease for an additional four (4) years; and WHEREAS, renewing the term of the lease will allow the Kona Elderly Activities Office to continue to stay at its current location for a cost of $4,000 a month, which includes the cost of common area maintenance; and WHEREAS, the County reserves the right to terminate the extension with 180 days notice if it builds its own building or enters into an agreement with a Senior Resource Housing Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into amulti-year lease extension agreement for office space for the Department of Parks and Recreation. 2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the lease agreement.
