No. 104-09
PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa
78-128 `Ehukai Street
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
TIME: 12:34 p.m.

Council Chair and Members
Hawaii County Council
Hilo, Hawaii 96720

Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 104-09, reports as follows:

Resolution No. 104-09, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 255,
dated April 6, 2009, authorizes the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease extension with Grace Basque for
the Kona Elderly Activities Office for a term of four years. The current lease rent of $48,000 wil be
continued, which includes common area maintenance (CAM) fees.

Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation requiring
payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by resolution.

Councilmember Ford stated that she felt this was a very good lease for the County and thanked
Ms. Basque for allowing the lease to be renewed without an increase in rent. She also stated for the record
that there is an out clause included in the lease that will allow the County out of the lease should the
Elderly Activities Office move to the West Hawaii Civic Center upon its completion.

Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 104-09, and
recommends its adoption.

Sao

Awes NOES A&E EX Respectfully submitted,

ENRIQUES X
FORD X COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
GREENWELL X
HOFFMANN X /
IKEDA X
NAEOLE X V
ONISHI X DOMINIC YAGO CH RSA N
YAGONG X FC REP NO. 50
YOSHIMOTO X ADOPTS AY 6 2009
