COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. ~26 09 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER <br />FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A <br />MULTI-YEAR LEASE FOR ONE HUNDRED (100) MOBILE DATA <br />TERMINAL FOR THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease <br />for other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal <br />year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department would like to obtain a five (5) <br />~lyear lease agreement for one hundred (100) mobile data terminals (MDT); and <br />I <br />WHEREAS, the MDTs, to be placed in various officer's vehicles throughout the <br />County, will give the officers immediate access to the data base to check warrants, <br />TROs, and prior arrest information; and <br />WHEREAS, having immediate access to this type of information will improve the <br />safety to the patrolling officers; and <br />WHEREAS, the MDTs will also save time for the officers by allowing them to file <br />reports when they are away from the station. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY <br />~i OF HAWAII: <br />1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease <br />agreement for one hundred (100) Mobile Data Terminal for the Hawaii <br />County Police Department. <br />2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the <br />anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement. <br />
