No. 126-09 <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa <br /> 78-128 `Ehukai Street <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 3:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 126-09, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 126-09, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 282, <br /> dated April 23, 2009, authorizes the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease for one hundred (100) mobile <br /> data terminals for the Hawaii County Police Department. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation requiring <br /> payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by resolution. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Ford stated that she felt this was very good equipment for our officers to have. She felt <br /> that our police force should be brought into the 2151 century. Councilmember Ford questioned Hawaii <br /> Police Major Sam Thomas who was present in Hilo, as to whether or not these were special laptops that <br /> could withstand the jarring of being in a police vehicle.
