REQUEST: <br /> Request to amend County Code, Section 18-1 and 18-38. Change to 18-1 is to add a definition for "director <br /> ofd finance . Change to Section 18-38, related to taxicab permits, is to correct terminology to reflect the <br /> requirement of a permit number on the taxi permit and to remove the requirement that the driver's home <br /> address be displayed, replacing that with the taxi company name. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> Taxi driver licensing responsibilites transferred to Department of Finance effective this fiscal year. Director of <br /> Finance should be added to the definitions in Chapter 18. This is a housekeeping change. <br /> Hawaii County Code, Chapter 18 includes the requirement that taxi driver's permits be posted in a prominient <br /> place within the vehicle. Taxi driver's have expressed concern regarding the requirement that they include <br /> their address on the permit. The Department of Finance finds that this is an unnecessary requirement and <br /> that displaying such personal information impacts the individual's privacy and security. <br /> <br /> An additional change to this section is to replace the term "serial" with "permit" for the number that is included on <br /> the posted permit.
