Kenoi
Mayor
County of Hawai'i
75-5706 Kuakini Hwy., Suite 103
Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i 96740
Aloha Mayor Kenoi,

On behalf of the 50`s Anniversary of Statehood Commission, I am writing to
officially inform you of two dedicated commemorative events being planned for Hawaii
County. This is an incredible year in our state's history and the participation of your
county will enhance the significance of our commemoration efforts.
The official Hawai'i County events will be chaired by Commission member
Tammy Kubo and Hawaii County representative Craig Kawaguchi. Your county will
receive $40.000 in Commission funding to support costs associated with your two events.

The Commission's focus has always been on education, therefore we envision
that these activities will provide not only fun and entertainment, but also an enlightening
experience for all the people of Hawaii. The details of the events are to be determined at
the discretion of your team and could be as broad as a commemorative concert or a
community talk-story.

Mahalo, and we look forward to working with you to commemorate this important
milestone in our state's history.

rSincerely,

KIPPEN DE ALBA CHU
Chair, 50th Anniversary of Statehood Commission

c: Lenny Klompus, Vice-Chair, Events and Communications
