BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> Recently the County was ordered by the courts to pay approximately $1,658,000 in damages resulting from <br /> the Coupe condemnation. Payment is needed to obtain possession of the real property to complete the <br /> Mamalahoa Bypass Highway. Currently the Miscellaneous Insurance Claims and Judgments account has <br /> approximately $684,000 available to help cover these costs. There is currently money available in the <br /> Health Benefits account since the Employer Union Trust Fund did not increase the rates for retirees this year <br /> as was previously reported to us.
