BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> The County of Hawai'i applied for grant funding from the State of Hawai'i, Department of Land and Natural <br /> Resources, Legacy Land Conservation Commission for the acquisition of Kawa Bay on October 10, 2007. <br /> The State of Hawai'i Board of Land and Natural Resources approved the Legacy Land Conservation <br /> Commission's grant of $1,500,000 to the County of Hawai'i. The Board of Land and Natural Resources must' <br /> encumber these funds on or before June 30, 2009. Attached are: 1) Copy of resolution No. 451 06. 2) Board <br /> of Land and Natural Resources approval dated May 9, 2008.
