Wery is from Pahoa and will represent the Military Order of the Purple Heart <br /> (MOPH). He is the Commander and Senior Vice Commander of the MOPH, a member <br /> of the Korean War Veterans and the chair of the Hawai'i Veterans Parade Committee. <br /> Mr. Wery states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will <br /> replace Richard L. Stevens who resigned. Mr. Wery will serve the remainder of <br /> Mr. Stevens' term that will expire on December 31, 2010. <br /> <br /> David R. Carlson is from Kailua-Kona and will represent the American Legion. He is <br /> the Vice Commander of American Legion District 4, treasurer of the Kona Hawaiian <br /> Civic Club and the A & D Director of the West Hawai'i Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Carlson <br /> states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term <br /> to expire on December 31, 2013. <br /> <br /> Antonio T. Gaspar is from Kailua-Kona and will fill an independent slot. He is a <br /> member and Commander of the American Legion. He is a tax counselor for the elderly <br /> and does volunteer income tax assistance. Mr. Gaspar states that he is not affiliated <br /> with any political party.
