Box 817 <br /> volcano <br /> COUM~"Y CLC'~K Hawaii 96785 <br /> c®u?~r~~ o~ ~~w,vl <br /> July 2, 1999 <br /> Councilman Aaron Chung, Chairman <br /> Hawaii County Council Finance Committee <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, I~awaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Dear Councilman Chung: <br /> Re: Bill No. 93 Relating to the Minimum Tax <br /> As an owner of two lots in Kalapana Gardens subdivision in Puna, I would like to draw <br /> attention to the impact of the provisions of Bill No. 93 on owners of land in the areas <br /> devastated by lava flows from the ongoing eruption of Kilauea volcano. <br /> While I support the general objective of Bill No. 93, I believe that raising the minirrium <br /> property tax from the current $25 to $100 for properties inundated by lava would result in <br /> a substantial 11®ss of badly needed revenues for the County.
