The <br />General Plan calls for the formation of Action Committees, which would be appointed by <br />the Mayor and confirmed by the County Council. <br />We would appreciate your attention on this matter and are requesting that this item be <br />placed on the July 7, 2009 Planning Committee Agenda for discussion and with <br />confirmation of these individuals on the July 22, 2009 full Council agenda. <br />The North Kohala Action Committee will consist of 9 members who reside in the North <br />Kohala district. The purpose of the committee member is to be a proactive community <br />based steward of the North Kohala Community Development Plan's implementation and <br />update. <br />It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed the following individuals to the <br />newly created North Kohala Action Committee: <br />1. Collin Kaholo (4-year term) retired as a First Sergeant with the U.S. Armed <br />Services and has resided in North Kohala for 63 years. He is currently employed <br />at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and has served as the Unit Chairman for the <br />International Longshoremen's & Warehousemen's Union. Collin has served as <br />President for the Kohala Community Association and the Kohala National Guard <br />Alumni Club. Collin is committed to supporting ranchers and farmers in Kohala <br />and would like to see agriculture maintained within the community. Collin has <br />extensive team building experience and believes teamwork is an important <br />aspect of working in a group setting. 4~ <br />Cctmm.
