Chapter 2, article 2, section 2-8, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 <br />Edition, as amended) is amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 2-8. Order of succession to office of mayor. <br />In the event of civil, military or natural disaster, during the temporary <br />absence or disability of the mayor, the managing director shall act as mayor. If the <br />office of managing director is vacant, or during such periods as the managing <br />director is unable to so act, the director of finance shall then act as mayor. If the <br />office of director of finance is vacant, or during such periods as the director of <br />finance is unable to so act, then the planning director, director of research and <br />development, director of [~°~ ^~~~] human resources and director, <br />department of liquor control, shall succeed to the office of mayor in the order <br />specified herein." <br />SECTION 4. Chapter 2, article 3A, section 2-10A, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 <br />Edition, as amended) is amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 2-10A. Appointment of personnel. <br />There shall be an office of the prosecuting attorney as provided by Charter. <br />The prosecuting attorney may appoint deputy prosecuting attorneys and necessary <br />staff, including investigators. The investigators shall have all of the powers and <br />privileges of a police officer for the County of Hawaii. The office of the <br />prosecuting attorney shall adopt policies and standards for training and use of <br />these powers consistent and in conformance with those adopted by the Hawaii <br />County police department. All investigations relating to the discharge of a firearm <br />by an investigator shall be conducted by the Hawaii County police department. <br />All investigators must have the minimum qualifications for the class as <br />established by the department of [^~°] human resources." <br />
