<br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> BILL NO. 274 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 <br /> (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 8, section 24-293, schedule 41 (Use of <br /> certain streets by certain vehicles restricted), subsection (a) Hamakua, of the Hawaii County <br /> Code 1983 (1995 edition), is amended to read as follows: <br /> (a) Hamakua <br /> (1) [Vehicle with a capacity ofthree-quarters of a ton or over: <br /> (A) Pakalana Street between Lehua Street and Kukui Street in a <br /> northerly direction except that any vehicle equipped with <br /> safety brakes consisting of an automatic spring that will <br /> actuate the brakes when the air pressure drops below sixty <br /> pounds per square inch maybe operated during the hours <br /> when Honokaa High and Elementary School is not in <br /> session. All vehicles equipped with safety brakes shall first <br /> be checked and approved by the chief engineer of the <br /> department of public works before they are operated on <br /> such street. The approval of the chief engineer shall be <br /> valid for a period of three months. <br /> (B) Waipio Valley Road in Hamakua from the top of the <br /> lookout to the bottom of the valley, restricted to four-wheel <br /> drive vehicles only. <br /> (C) Makai-bound traffic shall yield to mauka-bound traffic on <br /> the access road into Waipio Valley.] Pakalana Street, from <br /> Lehua Street to Mamane Street, makai bound only: Any <br /> i <br /> <br />
