<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION ALLOWING COUNCIL MEMBERS TO VOLUNTARILY REQUEST <br /> TO TRANSFER ANY AMOUNT WITHIN INDIVIDUAL SALARY LIMITS FROM <br /> COUNTY CLERK'S SALARY AND WAGES (S&W) ACCOUNT TO THE <br /> CONTINGENCY RELIEF ACCOUNT, TO BE APPROPRIATED IN ACCORDANCE <br /> WITH CURRENT CONTINGENCY RELIEF FUND PROCEDURES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council should exercise leadership during these <br /> difficult economic times, particularly in terms of compensation levels; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, some Hawaii County Council members may wish to use a portion of their <br /> County salaries as a means of financially supporting chosen 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations; <br /> and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in previous terms, Council members had the use of a Contingency Relief <br /> Fund to help fund programs and activities offered by 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and <br /> sponsored by the County, and effective procedures already exist for the appropriation of <br /> Contingency Relief Funds; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, final determination of salary transfer procedures will be done accordingly; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Council members can choose to voluntarily transfer any amount within individual salary limits <br /> from County Clerk's S&W accounts to the Contingency Relief account. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the amount transferred to the Contingency Relief <br /> account be further appropriated by that Council member in accordance with existing <br /> Contingency Relief Fund appropriation procedures. <br /> <br /> BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward copies of this <br /> resolution to the Honorable Mayor William P. Kenoi, the Director of the Department of Finance, <br /> and the Director of the Department of Human Resources. <br /> <br /> Dated at Hawaii, this day of 2009. <br />
