COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. X34 09 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br />INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT <br />OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR.THE <br />VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT GRANT FUNDED BY THE AMERICAN <br />RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has been award a Victims of <br />Crime Act Grant from the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General; and <br />WHEREAS, these funds are derived from the American Recovery and <br />Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and are to be used to provide assistance to victims of crime; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the ARRA funds will be used to provide assistance services to <br />victims of felony and misdemeanor violent crimes; and <br />WHEREAS, these services include counseling, referrals to community agencies, <br />assistance with judicial proceedings, and administration of funds used to provide direct <br />services to victims; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county <br />departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal <br />or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers <br />granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in <br />connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br />HAWAII, in accordance with section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the <br />County of Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and any <br />related documents with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, to enable <br />the County to receive and use Victims of Crime Act grant funds, funded by the American <br />Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), towards its program goals and objectives as <br />noted in its grant application, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as <br />Exhibit "A". <br />
