Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 486, regarding Resolution 226-09, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution 226-09, transmitted by Council Member Dennis Onishi, via Communication No. 486 dated <br /> August 17, 2009, urging the Hawaii State Board of Education to move the Keaukaha School Cafeteria <br /> Project into the Top Ten on The Department of Education CIP Allotment Priority List. <br /> <br /> There was testimony from members of public, including two sixth grade students, in support of the <br /> proposed resolution. <br /> <br /> Committee Chair Brenda .1. Ford relinquished her seat to Committee Vice Chair Kelly Greenwell. <br /> Mr. Onishi provided pictures of Keaukaha School Cafeteria and commented that overcrowded, <br /> dilapidated conditions violate fire safety and OSHA regulations. Furthermore, improper food preparation <br /> due to space limitations, obsolete equipment, and cramped and deteriorated working conditions is an <br /> unhealthy and dangerous environment for the children and school employees.
