REQUEST: <br />An ordinance amending Ordinance 09 -65, The Capital Budget, by adding an appropriation for Hawaiian <br />Ocean View Estates (HOVE) Water Facilities Project in the amount of $400,000.00. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />In FY 2006 the State of Hawaii appropriated $6 million to develop a potable water source for Hawaiian <br />Ocean View Estates (HOVE). The County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply (DWS) administered 2 <br />contracts utilizing these funds. The first was to drill and test an exploratory well, and the second was to <br />design and build the production facilities. The current design build contract for $3,395,813.00 includes a <br />100,000 gallon reinforced concrete reservoir and 1 standpipe. <br />An additional $400,000.00 is required to increase the reservoir size to 300,000 gallons and provide an <br />additional standpipe for water haulers. These revisions will enhance the current design to allow for future <br />expansion of the water system <br />We are requesting to waive hearing this Bill at the Finance Committee and proceed directly to Council, as <br />the project contract is ready to go. <br />SIGNED: w " �� DATE: <br />Department Head <br />
