<br />COUNTY OF HAW AI'I <br /> <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAI'I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 248 09 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF <br />$1,000 TO THE HAWAI'I FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Wal-Mart Hilo, as part of their "Community Grant" program, has donated $1,000 to <br />the Hawai'j Fire Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the funds will be used to purchase educational materials relating to fire and injury <br />prevention and will be distributed to the public during Fire Prevention Week, Emergency Medical <br />Services (EMS) Week, and throughout the year at other public events; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter provides that the Council, <br />on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hawai'i Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I <br />that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, the Council of the <br />County of Hawai'j accepts the $1,000. <br /> <br />BE IT 'FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent <br />to Mr. Terrance Crowley, Manager, Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E.
