Surrounding Zoning/Land Uses: Surrounding properties in the general area are in <br />residential and agricultural use with lots to the east and west zoned A-la and lots to the <br />north zoned RS-l 0 and A-3a. Larger parcels ranging from four to ten acres in size are <br />located to the south and zoned A-3a. <br />9. ALISH: Unclassified. <br />10. Land Study Bureau's Detailed Land Classification System: "C" or "Pair". <br />11. U.S. Soil Survey: Olaa extremely stony silty clay loam, 0 to 20 percent slopes (OlD). <br />Permeability is rapid, runoff is slow, and the erosion hazard is slight. This soil type was <br />used for sugarcane. <br />12. FIRM: Zone "X", area determined to be outside the 500-year flood plain. <br />13. Fwra/Fauna Resources: No professional surveys were conducted of the site as the <br />property has been previously graded for sugarcane cultivation and residential use. <br />Existing flora includes various fruit trees, '6hi'a, ti leaf, and other non-native plants. <br />According to the applicant, it is unlikely that any rare or endangered floral or faunal <br />resources would be found on the subject property. <br />14. Historical/Archaeological Resources: The property has been used for sugarcane <br />cultivation and cattle grazing for over 60 years. In a letter dated October 31,2008, the <br />DLNR State Historic Preservation Division determined that no historic properties will be <br />affected because intensive sugarcane cultivation has altered the land. <br />15. Cultural or Native Gathering Rights: The applicant is not aware of whether the <br />property was historically used for the gathering of plants by cultural practitioners. <br />However, in the unlikely event that legitimate gathering claims are made by Native <br />Hawaiians, the applicant will honor and respect such claims and provide the needed <br />access within the property. <br />16. Public Access: There is no record ofa designated public access to the shoreline or <br />mountain areas that traverses the properties. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES AND SERVICES <br />17.
