The grant is <br /> intended to provide increased transportation service for working commuters and for those <br /> seeking employment. The grant will be used to fund operating costs to establish <br /> additional routes and frequency of bus service, which include additional weekday and <br /> weekend service. The Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency had submitted two separate <br /> applications for the funding and this resulted in one grant award of $312,716. Funding for <br /> this grant program is derived from the Federal Transit Administration. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of <br /> Hawaii Department of Transportation for this grant. <br /> Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating <br /> the grant award to the Mass Transit account. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii County Mass Transit <br /> Office. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Nancy l Crawford <br /> Director of Finance <br /> <br /> Enc. <br /> <br /> cc: Mass Transit Comm.
