Naeole <br /> Council Member <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> 333 Kilauea Avenue, Second Floor <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> <br /> Dear Council Member Naeole.: <br /> <br /> SUBJECT: Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund for <br /> Pahoa Swimming Pool and Pohoiki Park <br /> <br /> This is in response to your emails and letters requesting the use of funds from the <br /> Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefit Fund for the following: <br /> <br /> 1. $ 64,000 for two (2) security guard positions at Pohoild Park. <br /> <br /> 2. $ 5,500 for a new pool vacuum cleaner for the Pahoa Swimming Pool. <br /> <br /> Section 2-181. Expenditures from fund, Article 36 relating to the Geothermal Relocation <br /> and Community Benefit Fund, Hawaii County Code, states, in part, the following: <br /> <br /> "...Expenditures relating to the geothermal relocation and community benefits <br /> program include, but are not limited to: <br /> <br /> (5) Expenditures for public purposes including road improvement, water <br /> infrastructure, land acquisition, parks and recreational facility needs, civil <br /> defense, and mass transit improvements. <br /> (A) Funds shall be expended in Lower Puna, which is defined as <br /> extending from Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision to Kalapana <br /> and including Orchidland Estates, Ainaloa, Hawaiian Beaches, <br /> Hawaiian Shores, Kapoho, Pahoa, Nanawale, Leilani Estates, and <br /> other communities proximate to Pahoa. <br /> <br /> <br /> Hati>>ai'i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
