REQUEST: <br /> To accept $20,000.00 in the form of a Contract for Goods and Services from The Department of Business <br /> Economic Development and Tourism(DBEDT), Hawaii State Office of Planning to develop a master plan for <br /> the North Kohala Agricultural Processing Facility. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> DBEDT, Office of Planning received funding from the EDA Economic Adjustment Implementation Grant <br /> under Award Number 07-79-05930 to fund Hawaii State Farm Bureau Federation for the development of a <br /> master plan for the North Kohala Agricultural Processing Facility. This proposed facility will serve the <br /> community by enabling farmers to process taro into poi and their vegetables into value added products, <br /> serve as a distribution center with refrigerated storage facilities, and a place to hold meetings and classes. <br /> The County of Hawaii Department of Research and Development will serve as the pass through agency on <br /> the above-referenced funds.
