BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> On September 28, 2009, FEMA approved (see attached) the County of Hawaii, Department of Public <br /> Works' (DPW) August 14, 2009, $71,300 Cooperative Technical Partners, Grant Application. The grant <br /> is for revising the riverine portions of FEMA's preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRM) for <br /> Hawaii County. FEMA has set up a direct deposit account (Smartlink) from which the County of Hawaii <br /> can withdraw funds for expenses incurred to revise the DFIRMs in accordance with FEMA's mapping <br /> standards. The FEMA grant will pay for necessary equipment (e.g., color scanner) and reimburse the <br /> County Data Systems Department, Graphic Information Systems Division for preparing the revised <br /> DFIRMs. DPW will manage the grant and provide review of the revised DFIRMs. By accepting the <br /> grant, the County agrees to be part of FEMA's Mapping Modernization Team and work closely with <br /> FEMA and its contractor to finalize the DFIRMs for Hawaii County. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> t <br /> <br /> SIGNED: DATE: V <br /> e rtm nt Head <br />
