<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> J~ty OF <br /> N,~1 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br /> ~Tt OF•N/.i~ <br /> <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 206 09 <br /> (Draft 4) <br /> A RESOLUTION URGING THE HAWAII STATE LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT <br /> AND PROVIDE STATE FUNDING FOR THE HIGHEST PRIORITY CAPITAL <br /> IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the statewide unemployment rate for May 2009 was 7.4 percent with <br /> Hawaii County's unemployment the highest at 10.4 percent; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding capital improvement projects will help to stimulate the Big Island <br /> economy at a time when it is most needed; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council has created a list of capital improvement <br /> projects throughout the Big Island that are in need of funding; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council feels that the most effective way to gain the <br /> support of our Legislators is to submit one priority list as a unified Council rather than nine <br /> separate lists from each district; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the capital improvement projects are ranked by priority as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. Laupahoehoe Point Access Road Improvement <br /> <br /> 2. Puna Makai Alternate Route (PMAR) <br /> 3. La`aloa Street Extension (Kailua-Kona) <br /> <br /> 4. South Kona Police Station (Captain Cook) <br /> 5. Kapi`olani Street Extension <br /> <br /> 6. Waikoloa Gymnasium <br /> 7. Waimea District Park <br /> <br /> 8. Ke6kea Beach Pavilion <br /> 9. Waimea Trails and Greenways <br /> <br /> 10. Nd'dlehu Fire Station <br /> 11. Kawailani Street Improvements (`Iwalani St. to Pohakulani St.) <br /> <br /> 12. Kamd`ili Road Paving Project; and <br />
