No. 245-09 <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa <br /> 78-128 Ehukai Street <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 10:52 a.m. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 245-09, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 245-09, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. <br /> 545, dated September 22, 2009, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than <br /> one fiscal year for a multi-year lease for a copy machine. <br /> <br /> The Office of Management wishes to enter into a five-year lease contract for a multi-function copier. <br /> The office is in need of a more technically advanced copier with faxing, scanning, and network printing <br /> capabilities. Since the current copier is over eight years old, the acquisition of the new multi-function <br /> copier should increase the productivity and efficiency of the office. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Section 10-11 of the Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation <br /> requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by resolution. <br /> <br /> Finance Director Nancy Crawford. came forward and stated the cost for similar leases of a multi-function <br /> copier is approximately $4,000 per year. <br /> <br /> Chair Yagong questioned what happens to the old copiers when the County replaces them. <br /> Ms. Crawford responded that the County never takes ownership of copiers.
