<br />COUNTY OF HAW AI'I <br /> <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAI'I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 288 09 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF THREE (3) <br />AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRillATORS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS <br />AND RECREATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Dr. Richard Mamiya Golf ClassIc is held each year to honor retired Honolulu Cardiologist <br />Dr. Mamiya and to benefit the American Heart Association; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, for the past three events, a portion of the tournament's proceeds was designated to donate <br />Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to the Big Island community in Dr. Mamiya's name; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, three (3) Automated External Defibrillators, valued at $6,095.72, are being donated to the <br />Department of Parks and Recreation and will be placed at the Afook-Chlnen Civic Center, the Edith Kanaka'ole <br />Tenms Stadium, and the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter provides that the Council, on <br />behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I that in <br />accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawai'i <br />accepts this donation <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Dr. <br />Richard 1.
