No. 611/Res. 272-09 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> Ben Franklin Building, 2"d Floor <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 272-09, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 272-09, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication <br /> No. 611, dated November 3, 2009, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of <br /> more than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease for a copy machine. <br /> <br /> The Office of the Corporation Counsel wishes to enter into a five-year lease contract for a copy <br /> machine Their current lease will expire on February 9, 2010 and they would like to obtain a new <br /> lease on a faster copier that includes advanced technology and will increase their productivity. <br /> Funds would be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the costs, which they anticipate to be <br /> under the $8,210 that is currently budgeted. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation <br /> requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by <br /> resolution. <br /> <br /> Council Member Yagong asked what the cost would be to purchase a copy machine. <br /> Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida responded that while he did not have the exact figures, the <br /> cost of purchasing would be considerably more and would not include maintenance and supplies, <br /> as the lease does. <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 272-09, <br /> and recommends its adoption. <br /> <br /> kk <br /> <br /> AYES NOES A&E EX Respectfully submitted, <br /> ENRIQUES X <br /> FORD X COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> GREENWELL X <br /> HOFFMANN X <br /> IKEDA X <br /> NAEOLE X <br /> ONISHI X DENNIS "FRESH" ONISHI, CHAIR <br /> YAGONG X FC REPORT NO. 118 <br /> YOSHIMOTO X ADOPTED: DEC 0 2 MO <br />
