We, the citizens of South Kona and Ka`u have suffered for years from a lack of County services due to the
County's refusal to provide infrastructure and a safe and healthy living conditions in our districts as
mandated by the Hawaii State Constitution. For the last eighteen years Hawaii County has been beset by
drought conditions and yet the County is presently threatening, through proposed Bill 189, to reduce our
ability to acquire water from public spigots, installed expressly for our residential use, to levels below what
is needed for the basic maintenance needs of our families to drink, cook and bathe.
This proposal is unacceptable. The undersign request that the Mayor and County Council appoint and
convene a Task Force of local stakeholders to come up with reasonable recommendations to mitigate the
problem and form a solution that will serve the needs of the citizens of these districts as well as the need of
the County to perform its function in a thrifty and responsible manner.
Name Address Phone/ E -mail Signature
c .
