No. 690 <br />PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa <br />78 -128 Ehukai Street <br />Kailua -Kona, Hawaii <br />TIME: 1:00 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br />REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT <br />Your Committee on Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication No. 690, <br />reports as follows: <br />Communication No. 690 from Mayor Billy Kenoi dated January 22, 2010, requests confirmation of <br />the appointment of Sherman Warner of Council District 9, to the County of Hawai`i Environmental <br />Management Commission. Communication No. 690 notes that Mr. Warner, a 29 -year resident of <br />Hawai`i, is the Vice - President of the Waimea Community Association, the Board President of the <br />West Hawai`i Meditation Center, and recently was a member of the South Kohala CDP Steering <br />Committee. Mr. Warner states that he is a Democrat. <br />Since March 2009, Mr.Warner has been a member of this commission, serving the remainder of a <br />term that expired in December 2009. He is eligible to be re- nominated to serve a full term that would <br />end on December 31, 2014. <br />Pursuant to Article VI, §6 -5.5, Hawai`i County Charter, members of the Environmental Management <br />Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. <br />At the February 17, 2010 meeting of the Committee on Environmental Management, Councilmember <br />Pete Hoffman thanked Mr. Warner and strongly urged his appointment be confirmed. <br />Councilmember Emily Naeole- Beason thanked Mr. Warner for stepping up to help out. <br />The Committee agreed to waive Mr. Warner's appearance before the full Council for final <br />confirmation. <br />EMC Rpt.
