These recommendations were developed after a thorough review of all <br />applications forwarded by the Department of Finance and distributed to all Council Members. The Ad <br />Hoc committee was convened at the March 2, 2010, HSED Committee meeting. In compliance with <br />HRS 92 -2.5, interviews and selected site visits were conducted with all applicant organizations. On <br />March 18 in West Hawai'i, the Ad Hoc Committee held interviews with sixteen (16) applicants on <br />March 18th, and conducted site visits with three (3) applicants. In East Hawai`i, the committee held <br />interviews with twenty five (25) applicants on March 22 and twenty four (24) applicants on March <br />23` On March 24 the committee interviewed fifteen (15) applicants at the Pahoa Council office and <br />conducted six site visits. A total of 80 interviews and 9 site visits were conducted. <br />The requests this year totaled $3,738,717.24 from 89 qualified nonprofits and the Council has <br />$1,500,000 to appropriate.
