REQUEST: 085.3305.06 085.3305.10 085.601.5607.30.115 SIGNED: DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION To amend the FY09 -10 Operating Budget, Ordinance No. 09 -64, to increase the appropriated amounts for the Glass Recycling Program grant and the Used Motor Oil Collection Program grant as follows: State Grants - Glass Recycling Program $4,390 State Grants - Used Oil Collection /Disposal $3,943 Used Oil Collection /Disposal $8,333 B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): In the FY 2009 -10 budget, the Solid Waste Division budget includes a grant from the State Department of Health for the used oil collection program. The Department of Health is increasing this award for FY09 -10 by $8,333 for the purpose of conducting education and outreach for the used oil collection program. This should bring the total award for FY09 -10 to $63,333. However, under the current fiscal year's budget, the projected REVENUE amounts for the Glass Recycling and Used Oil Collection /Disposal program grants are inadvertantly switched. This bill amends the revenue amounts for the Glass Recycling Program (from $55,000 to $59,390) and for the Used Oil Collection /Disposal Program (from $59,390 to $63,333). Since the expenditure appropriations are properly budgeted, this bill also increases the Used Oil Collection /Disposal expenditure account by the supplemental grant award amount of $8,333. We respectfully request that this bill be waived from the Council's Finance Committee as these grant funds must be expended by June 30, 2010.
