DATE: March 16, 2010 PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa 78 -128 `Ehukai Street Kailua -Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 2:10 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 315 -10, reports as follows: Resolution No. 315 -10, transmitted jointly with Bill 219, by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 744 dated March 3, 2010, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai`i Department of Health's Maternal & Child Health Branch for funding to the Hawai`i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the Sexual Violence Prevention and Planning project. The Hawai`i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney participated in the development of the statewide Sexual Violence Prevention and Planning project and is now receiving funding to build capacity and prepare Hawai`i County for its implementation. These monies, derived from Federal funds, will support Area Strategic Work Group sessions, capacity building workshops, and participation in the Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Implementation Committee and facilitator training on Oahu. Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. There was no discussion on this matter. Your Committee on Finance is in accordance with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 315 -10, and recommends its adoption.
