approximately 3.5 miles from the nearest shoreline and is not situated within the Special <br /> Management Area. - <br /> DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT SITE AND SURROUNDING AREA <br /> 9. Subject Property: The property is rectangular in shape and 20,393 square feet in size. <br /> There are two existing single family dwellings constructed on the property. There is a 3- <br /> bedroom /2 -bath dwelling constructed in 1964, which is located at the corner of Haihai <br /> Street and Likeke Street. Additionally, there is an ohana 3- bedroom/2' /2 bath dwelling <br /> constructed in 1992 located along Likeke Street. <br /> 10. Surrounding Zoning and Land Uses: The surrounding area is predominantly in single <br /> family residential use and is zoned RS -10 and RS -15. There was a similar change of <br /> zone from RS -15 to RS -10 near the subject property, which was approved in 1991. The <br /> Hilo Municipal Golf Course is located directly across Haihai Street, which is zoned <br /> Open. <br /> 11. U.S.D.A. Soil Type: Keaukaha extremely rocky muck, 6 to 20 percent slopes (rKFD). <br /> 12. ALISH: Existing Urban Development. <br /> 13. Land Study Bureau's Productivity Rating: Existing Urban Development. <br /> 14. FIRM: Zone "X ", an area outside of the 500 -year flood plain. <br /> 15. Flora/Fauna: As the property is improved with two single- family dwellings, no <br /> professional flora or fauna surveys were conducted of the site. The property is located in <br /> an urban setting in an area dominated by single - family residential uses and has been in <br /> residential uses for over 40 years. <br /> 16. Archaeological/Cultural /Historical Resources: No professional archaeological surveys <br /> or cultural assessments were conducted of the property. The Department of Land Natural <br /> Resources- Historic Preservation Division issued "no- effect" letters dated October 27, <br /> 2009 and February 17, 2010 stating that no historic properties will be affected by this <br /> project. <br /> 17. Public Access: There is no record of a designated public access to the shoreline or <br /> mountain areas that traverses the property. <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES AND SERVICES <br /> • <br /> -2- <br />
