No. 772 <br />PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa <br />78 -128 Ehukai Street <br />Kailua -Kona, Hawai`i <br />TIME: 2:15 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawai`i County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 772, reports as follows: <br />Communication No. 772. transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated April 5, 2010, submits for <br />confirmation the appointment of Mr. Kenneth Kaneshiro of Council District 1 to the County of <br />Hawai`i Water Board, replacing Millie Kim, whose term expired in December 2009. <br />Mr. Kaneshiro is a 38 -year resident of Hawai`i. He retired in 2003 as a state conservationist with the <br />United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service. <br />Mr. Kaneshiro states that he is a member of the Democratic Party. If confirmed, he will serve a term <br />to end on December 31, 2014. <br />Council Member Dominic Yagong stated that he was happy to have a person of Mr. Kaneshiro's <br />caliber representing his district. Council Member Brenda Ford stated that she supports <br />Mr. Kaneshiro's nomination. She further stated that she wanted him to drill more wells in West <br />Hawai`i. Council Member Emily Naeole- Beason stated that she wanted Mr. Kaneshiro to check on <br />the water situation in her subdivision at Makuu. Committee Chair Donald Ikeda requested your <br />Committee members to waive Mr. Kaneshiro's presence at the Council meeting.
