COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 345 10 <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO <br />ENTER INTO A MULTI -YEAR CONTRACT WITH HAWAIIAN TELCOM <br />FOR WIRELESS E911 SERVICE FOR THE HAWAI'I POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT AND HAWAI I FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Section 10 -11 of the Hawai`i County Charter requires that any contract, <br />lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year <br />or more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and <br />WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a multi -year contract with Wireless E911 <br />Service provider, Hawaiian Telcom, for the Hawaii Police Department and Hawai'i Fire <br />Department; and <br />WHEREAS, this service greatly assists the Hawai'i Police Department and Hawai'i Fire <br />Department in carrying out their duties and functions relating to law enforcement and public <br />safety; and <br />WHEREAS, the rates for Wireless E911 services are established by the Public Utilities <br />Commission, Tariff 20 requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, this multi -year contract is necessary for the Hawai'i Police Department and <br />Hawai' i Fire Department to provide optimal emergency response services to the people of the <br />County of Hawai'i at a fixed rate for this three (3) year period; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i <br />hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into a multi -year contract with Hawaiian Telcom to provide <br />Wireless E91 1 sery ices for the Hawai'i Police Department and Hawai'i Fire Department. <br />
