HAWAII COUNTY ENERGY OVERVIEW <br /> • ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST III - WILLIAM ROLSTON <br /> Dept. of Research & Development <br /> -See attached Position Description <br /> • MAYOR'S ENERGY ADVISORY COMMISSION <br /> Purpose: <br /> The Hawai'i County Energy Advisory Commission is to advise the <br /> Mayor as to a strategy on the development and the implementation <br /> of a Hawai'i County Energy Sustainability Plan, focusing on areas <br /> such as residential, commercial, industrial, land use, utility and power <br /> producers, policy and regulation, and transportation. <br /> Duties and Responsibilities: <br /> In carrying out its purpose, the Hawaii County Energy Advisory Commission <br /> shall: <br /> • (a) Develop recommendations based on timelines that identify immediate, <br /> short term, and long range implementation; <br /> (b) Identify priorities, collaborators, action steps, needed resources, <br /> benchmarks, and methods of evaluation; <br /> (c) Review and revise recommended strategy at least annually; <br /> (d) Explore methods of funding and make recommendations to the Mayor; <br /> and <br /> (e) Acknowledge and incorporate complimentary plans, studies, and initiatives <br /> in its deliberations whenever reasonable and beneficial to its outcomes. <br /> • MAYOR'S GREEN TEAM: <br /> The mission of the Mayor's Green Team is to research and analyze the <br /> County's current assets and methods, and then identify options for improved <br /> efficiencies, reduced cots, and greater social and environmental stewardship. <br /> This research and analysis will focus first on four primary areas with biggest <br /> cost savings opportunities related to sustainability: Energy, Building, <br /> Transportation, and Waste. <br /> • <br />
