DeMarco as <br /> County of Hawai'i Director of the Department of Environmental Management, pursuant to the <br /> charter of the County of Hawaii. This appointment was effective September 7, 2010. <br /> Mr. DeMarco was chosen from the Engineering Division of the county Department of Public <br /> Works where he has been employed since 2007. He has worked primarily with the County's <br /> Floodplain Management program since February 2008. <br /> Prior to joining the County of Hawai'i, Mr. DeMarco was employed as Water Quality Resources <br /> engineer for 26 years by the State of California Regional Water Quality Control Board. There <br /> his duties included drawing plans and specifications for wastewater treatment plants and <br /> landfills, and establishing requirements for regulating discharges from wastewater treatment <br /> plants, solid waste landfills, underground storage tanks and hazardous waste sites. <br /> Mr. DeMarco has a Bachelors of Science degree in Construction Engineering from California <br /> Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in <br /> California and Hawaii. <br /> Mr. DeMarco will serve co- terminus with my tenure, which will end December 3, 2012. <br /> Thank you for your favorable consideration of this appointment.
