BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> A Project Data /Financial Impact Statement is attached. <br /> The Solid Waste Division of the Department of Environmental Management is seeking to design and <br /> construct a new baseyard facility that will replace the existing inadequate facility currently occupied by <br /> personnel. The existing baseyard facility has exceeded its useful life and is much too small, encroaches on <br /> neighboring property owned by DHHL, and does not have adequate room or facilities (bathrooms, changing <br /> area, shower) to support the staff at the site. The new facility will meet the needs of OSHA requirements, <br /> and provide sanitary bathroom, change area and shower facilities for all employees. <br /> The new facility is warranted due to the urgent nature of providing an adequate facility to meet the needs and <br /> requirements of Hilo Solid Waste Division Staff. <br /> SIGNED: 1/H61,1 DATE: 10)27)/0 <br /> Department Head <br />
